Fan type
A small bathroom fan, cooker hood and commercial extraction fan use very different motors, controls and access methods.
Send the appliance, model if known and the fault. We will confirm availability and the next step.
Estimated repair prices
These ranges help you budget before booking. The final amount depends on the diagnosed fault, parts, model, access and repair complexity.
| Repair / service | Typical fault or scope | Estimated range |
|---|---|---|
| Diagnosis / call-out | Fault assessment, controls, motor and airflow checks | R350 – R650+ |
| Cleaning-related airflow restoration | Accessible filters, grille and fan-wheel contamination where appropriate | R350 – R950+ |
| Switch / control repair | Speed selector, wall switch or simple control fault | R450 – R1,200+ |
| Capacitor / starting component | Fan starts slowly, hums or struggles to reach speed | R550 – R1,350+ |
| Domestic fan motor repair / replacement | Kitchen or bathroom extractor motor fault | R650 – R2,200+ |
| Noise / vibration repair | Bearings, mounting, fan wheel or loose components | R450 – R1,500+ |
| Ducted / commercial extraction | Larger fan, motor, ductwork or control scope | Quoted after inspection |
Prices shown are guide estimates for budgeting and comparison, not fixed quotations. We confirm the repair price after diagnosis and before work proceeds.
What changes the price?
Extractor pricing depends on whether the fault is electrical, mechanical or mainly an airflow restriction. Fan type, access, motor size, ducting and commercial duty can change the cost significantly.
A small bathroom fan, cooker hood and commercial extraction fan use very different motors, controls and access methods.
Built-in hoods, ceiling voids, rooftop fans and long duct runs can require more labour than an accessible wall fan.
A simple switch fault costs less than a high-duty motor, speed controller or larger electrical component.
Poor extraction can continue after a fan repair if grease, damage, restrictions or discharge problems remain in the duct path.
What you pay for
We check what the fan does on each speed, whether controls respond, whether the motor turns freely and whether the airflow path is restricted. The final quote reflects the failed component and the work needed to restore useful extraction.
Our work
Pricing depends on what we find inside the appliance or system. We work directly on the components, controls and cooling systems involved, then test the repaired function before the job is complete.

A domestic extractor can often be worth repairing when the fault is a switch, capacitor, bearing or replaceable motor. If the fan body is heavily damaged, parts are unavailable or a larger system has several major problems, we explain the options before expensive work proceeds.
Spend where it makes sense
Age alone does not decide whether a repair is worthwhile. We look at the failed component, overall condition, parts availability and the likely result of the repair before you decide.

Many domestic repairs fall between about R350 and R2,200+, depending on the fault, motor, controls and access. Larger commercial extraction systems are quoted after inspection.
If accessible grease or dust is directly affecting airflow, cleaning may form part of the work. Full commercial duct cleaning is a different scope and should be confirmed separately.
Photos help us understand the system, but larger ducted extraction usually needs site-specific assessment before a final repair quote is confirmed.
